Monkey Nuts
Geraldine Naidoo’s hilarious new comedy
Performed by Matthew Ribnick

MONKEY NUTS, performed by multi-award winning actor Matthew Ribnick, is one of the finest and funniest shows you will ever see.  The show is the most recent winner of the prestigious Naledi award for “Best Comedy Performance” and a definite must-see for anyone craving brilliant quality entertainment in Cape Town or Joburg this spring.

The show, from acclaimed writer/director Geraldine Naidoo, will be staged at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town from 31 August to 1 October and at the Joburg Theatre from 9 November to 4 December.

MONKEY NUTS is the latest offering from the creators of HOOT and THE CHILLI BOY.  Following the phenomenal success of the previous two shows, MONKEY NUTS has stayed true to the quality and brilliance audiences have come to expect from the creative team of Ribnick and Naidoo.  The new show has had audiences in stitches with its clever mix of situational comedy, storytelling and hilarious (unforgettable) characters.

The play tells the story of Edgar Chambers; an odd-bod obsessed with entering all sorts of competitions.  His only friend is a monkey that lives in the back of a pet shop and Edgar’s main hobby is monitoring the prices of grocery items in various stores.  So skilled is he, that he can tell you the price of any grocery item, anywhere and at any given time. Edgar, a bank teller by profession, also has the unusual knack of sniffing out free stuff and special offers. It is, however, his obsessive competition entering that sparks off the madcap story that has had audiences gasping for breathe. As the story unfolds, audiences are spoilt with a bevy of brilliantly portrayed (hysterical) characters – all with some sort of connection to Edgar.

Don’t miss the hysterical brilliance of this hour-long comedy that will mesmerize and entertain you.
